Venice Florida is located on the Gulf
coast, just south of Sarasota. Venice has a beautiful historic
downtown which hosts a weekly farmer's market and several annual art
and craft fairs. The City of Venice was incorporated in
1927. The downtown has been known as the Island of Venice since the
Army Corps of Engineers completed the Intracoastal Waterway through
Venice.
Venice Island has a charming old World Southwest Florida feel. There are several public beaches and a fishing pier. The nearly 300' wide beaches are uncluttered and less developed than most to the North or South in the bigger cities. Venice is the perfect location to spend a leisurely day at the beach. Venice even has a beach where dogs are allowed called PAWS park.

Just to the south of the City of Venice is an area known as South Venice. Homes here are more moderately priced. South Venice has a waterfront community park with a boat ramp and ferry service to a private beach. Florida is a golfer's dream and draws more golfers than any other state. The Venice area offers several golf courses within a half hour's drive. Golfers have ample courses where they can experience typical Florida play. Naturally, the most common elements on Florida courses are water and sand. Challenging elements include the island green and prevailing coastal winds. But take heart, deep rough is uncommon! Surrounding the city of Venice are numerous distinct communities. You'll find gated golf course developments such as the Venice Golf and Country Club, Waterford Golf Club, Pelican Pointe Golf and Country Club, and Calusa Lakes Golf Club. There are also numerous non-gated communities featuring golf courses or other amenities, such as Plantation Golf and Country Club, Venetia, and Jacaranda West.
Venice on a larger scale is snuggled in between Sarasota to the North and Englewood and North Port to the South. Venice prides itself as having one of the finest school systems in Southwest Florida. Considered to be one of the fastest growing areas in Florida, Venice presents a tremendous opportunity for business and industrial growth.
